April 2012

Dear subscriber,

In this issue of the CREW newsletter, we would like to invite you to one of our upcoming events at the Future Internet Week and FIA in Aalborg, the 2012 Wireless Innovation Forum SDR-WinnComm in Brussels, and the Future Network & Mobile Summit in Berlin.

Future Internet Week Aalborg

The next Future Internet Week and Future Internet Assembly are organized in Aalborg, Denmark, from May 7 to May 11, 2012. To learn more about the CREW project and meet members of the CREW, we invite you to join us on May 9 and May 10:

May 9. All-day CREW workshop on "Experimental validation of cognitive radio/cognitive networking solutions". This CREW session is part of the FIRE thematic workshop. In the morning, CREW members as well as representatives of the CONSERN, COGEU and FARAMIR projects will talk about of the advantages of experimentally validating cognitive radio and cognitive networking solutions. The talks will be illustrated by concrete results and lessons learned. In the afternoon, tutorials will be presented by representatives of the CREW facilities. As such, participants will learn how to use the CREW facilities. The full program and abstracts of the talks are available on the FIRE wiki. To join the workshop, a registration for the Future Internet Week is required (EUR 50). This registration covers lunch and breaks.

May 10. "Hands-on FIRE! demo's". During the "hands on FIRE!" demonstration sessions (13:30 - 15:30 and 16:00 - 18:00), two live CREW demonstrations will be shown. Details are available via the FIRE wiki.

SDR-WInnComm

The preliminary program for the 2012 Wireless Innovation Forum European Conference on Communications Technologies and Software Defined Radio, organized in Brussels June 27-29 is now available. Besides presenting regular conference papers, CREW will also organize a Tutorial entitled "Using CREW: A Federated Platform for Experimentally-Supported Research on Cognitive Networks and Spectrum Sensing". During this tutorial, preliminary information on the second CREW open call will also be shared. Please keep an eye on the CREW website for future updates regarding our tutorial.

Future Network & MobileSummit

This year's Future Network & MobileSummit takes place in Berlin, Germany, from July 4-6. The 21th FNMS addresses the challenges of building Future Internet infrastructures based on mobile, wireless and fixed broadband communication technologies. On July 4 at 11:30, CREW contributes to the workshop 2b on cognitive radio and cognitive networks, with the following talks: "Shape-Shifting Wireless Networks: The Role of TV Spectrum in Future Network Architectures" and "How to access and use the CREW open federated test platform for wireless experimentation of advanced cognitive radio / cognitive networking solutions?". During the latter talk, the CREW open call 2 will also be announced. In addition, you can meet us at our CREW booth at the exhibition.

We look forward to meeting you in Aalborg and Berlin,
Best regards,
The CREW project
